Fox News Uses Picture of Eagles Praying as Propaganda, Falsely Accuses Them of Protesting the Anthem

It is official. The Philadelphia Eagles will not be visiting the White House following their Super Bowl win, passing on a common tradition of past NFL Champions. On Monday Fox News posted a photo of Eagles players kneeling in prayer before the game, passing it off as players protesting the anthem.

Fox News has since taken down the tweet. Luckily for us, the internet never forgets.

Eagles tight end Zach Ertz took to Twitter to rip Fox News.

There were some Philadelphia players who raised their fist during the anthem during the 2017 season, but it should be noted that not a single player took a knee in protest during the playing during of the national anthem.

Eventually Fox News admitted they were wrong and issued an apology.

Per The Hill:

“During our report about President Trump canceling the Philadelphia Eagles trip to the White House to celebrate their Super Bowl win, we showed unrelated footage of players kneeling in prayer,” Christopher Wallace, executive producer of Fox News @ Night with Shannon Bream, said in a statement.

“To clarify, no members of the team knelt in protest during the national anthem throughout regular or post-season last year,” he added. We apologize for the error.”

After the White House was notified the Eagles were only sending around 10 players to the ceremony, the team was disinvited.

Here is the official statement from President Trump, per WhiteHouse.gov:

The Philadelphia Eagles are unable to come to the White House with their full team to be celebrated tomorrow.  They disagree with their President because he insists that they proudly stand for the National Anthem, hand on heart, in honor of the great men and women of our military and the people of our country.  The Eagles wanted to send a smaller delegation, but the 1,000 fans planning to attend the event deserve better.  These fans are still invited to the White House to be part of a different type of ceremony—one that will honor our great country, pay tribute to the heroes who fight to protect it, and loudly and proudly play the National Anthem.  I will be there at 3:00 p.m. with the United States Marine Band and the United States Army Chorus to celebrate America.

It should come as no surprise that the left is up in arms. Check out the response from Torrey Smith, who was a receiver for the Super Bowl winning Eagles.
