Rob Schneider: Leftists Politics Have Ruined SNL

A few years back Rob Schneider exited the Democratic Party. The “Saturday Night Live” alum has taken aim at political correctness. He is very unhappy about how hos former employer has based their material around ripping Trump.

While interviewing with New York Daily News, Schneider said that SNL made a bad decision by so blatantly showing their political hand. This is very different from when the show started in the early 90’s with comedic legends such as Schneider, Adam Sandler, Mike Myers and Chris Rock.

“The fun of ‘Saturday Night Live’ was always you never knew which way they leaned politically,” Schneider explained to the Daily News. “You kind of assumed they would lean more left and liberal, but now the cat’s out of the bag they are completely against Trump, which I think makes it less interesting because you know the direction the piece is going.”

Schneider spoke about Alec Baldwin’s constant portrayals of President Trump and compared it to when Dana Carvey used to portray George H.W. Bush. Though they are both satire-based, Carvey had an affection for Bush while Baldwin is just filled with hate.

“Carvey played it respectfully,” Schneider stated. “To me, the genius of Dana Carvey was Dana always had empathy for the people he played, and Alec Baldwin has nothing but a fuming, seething anger toward the person he plays.”

Because of this, Schneider describes Baldwin as “hard to watch” and said this his motives are just too obvious. He also says that while Baldwin is a brilliant actor, he’s not a comedian.

“I don’t find his impression to be comical,” Schneider added. “Because, like I said, I know the way his politics lean and it spoils any surprise. There’s no possible surprise. He so clearly hates the man he’s playing.”

The comedian had been a Democrat up until 2014. Now he is “independent” and often takes aim at the “PC culture” of the left as well as Republicans.

Even though Schneider does sometimes take aim at some of Trump’s policies, particularly on immigration, he does like President Trump as a result of working with him on Home Alone 2, which was filmed in Trump’s then-Plaza Hotel.

“I didn’t sleep for two weeks,” Schneider said. “[Trump] was nice enough to give me a room. He gave me a room for free, so I could sleep between shots,” Schneider said. “He was very generous and nice and has been nice every time I saw him. He told me he hated me, but he was kind of joking because I made fun of him.”

Last year conservative speakers were denied at Berkeley. Schneider compared the left’s denial of conservative speakers to fascists.
