Peyton Manning Dumps His Papa John’s Franchises In Denver Area

According to reports retired NFL quarterback and Papa John’s spokesman Peyton Manning dumps his 31 Papa John’s locations near Denver. He dumped them just two days before the partnership between Papa John’s and the NFL ended in late February.

Manning’s stake was part of a six-year joint venture he had formed with Papa John’s international, according to Peter Collins, a Papa John’s spokesman.

Collins confirmed that a man who owned locations in other markets has purchased the locations from Manning and has taken over ownership.

Peyton Manning will still appear in the TV commercials for the chain.

“Peyton remains an official Papa John’s spokesperson and brand ambassador as part of his long-term agreement with the brand,” Collins said in a statement that was issued to FOX31 of Denver.

It’s been an action-packed year for Papa John’s. The founder and CEO of Papa John’s John Schattner stepped down after taking heat for saying that the NFL protesting had TV ratings as well as pizza sales.

Eventually Schattner apologized for his remarks.

Just two days after Manning sold his Papa John’s locations Pizza Hut was named the official pizza sponsor of the NFL. Did Peyton Manning receive some insider information and call an audible on getting rid of his Papa John’s locations? Sure seems like it.

The pizza stores were purchased by Manning in 2012 while he was the quarterback for the Denver Broncos. He retired from the NFL in 2016.
