On Monday, law enforcement officers arrested a Utah teenager after he brought a homemade bomb into a high school and attempted to detonate it. According to authorities, if he was able to detonate it, it would have certainly led to loss of life.
This happened at Pine View High School. The bomb began to emit smoke and at this point the high school was evacuated and the students were sent home.
A warrant served at the male juvenile’s home and items were found consistent with the materials used to build the device. Police also said the suspect had been researching information and expressing interest in ISIS and promoting the organization.
It was determined that if the device had detonated, it would have caused significant injury or death.
The suspect, who was not identified, was immediately taken into custody and charged with manufacture, possession, sale, use or attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction.
According to reports, the same suspect allegedly took down the the American flag and replaced it with an ISIS flag. On the side of the building he spray painted “ISIS is comi.” According to investigators he was unable to finish and ran off before adding the final to letters to “coming.”
