The U.S. Air Force drops more precision guided bombs that it has in history as part of a 96-hour air strike against the Taliban, according to U.S. Forces-Afghanistan.
Per Daily Wire:
Gen. John Nicholson, the commander of the unit, stated, “The Taliban have nowhere to hide. There will be no safe haven for any terrorist group bent on bringing harm and destruction to this country.”
As Fox News has reported, in the last week the U.S. military has been reducing its forces from an American-led coalition base in Iraq and shifting them to Afghanistan since Islamic State has been decimated in Iraq. According to The Washington Post, the U.S. Army is considering increasing the total U.S. force in Afghanistan by 1,000 to help Afghan forces against the Taliban.
President Trump has warned against drawing down troops in Afghanistan. Referencing Barack Obama’s decision to withdraw forces from Iraq in 2011, he stated, “A hasty withdrawal would create a vacuum that terrorists, including ISIS and al Qaeda, would instantly fill, just as happened before September 11th.”
If you remember, during President Trump’s campaign he promised to “bomb the s*** out of ISIS.” Sure this isn’t ISIS, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t fulfilled that promise as well.
The Trump administration has taken a strong stance against terrorist groups and done a great job of reducing the strength of ISIS and the Taliban.
