HBO star Issa Rae didn’t hold anything back when she was asked who she wants to win the Emmys. “I’m rooting for everybody black,” she told Variety’s live stream during an interview that took place on the red carpet.
Rae is the creator and start of the HBO comedy Insecure.
Imagine the backlash if a white person took the opposite stance leading up to the Emmys. They would be destroyed for it.

Per Daily Wire:
Commenters on Twitter were quick to point out that Rae’s comments were exclusionary, and contrary to the Emmy Awards’ recent commitment to increasing diversity within its ranks — and embracing all minorities, not just racial minorities.
Rae might have been expressing her own disappointment at having been snubbed by Emmy voters.
Although the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences clearly tried to make their nominees as diverse as possible — even where it seemed like quite a stretch — Rae’s show, Insecure, which features a mostly African-American cast, writing and production staff, didn’t earn a single nomination.
You have to give her credit in one regard. She didn’t pull any punches. She wants black people to win all of the Emmys and has no shame in it.
