Free Agent Colin Kaepernick Not Likely to Be Signed – Teams “Genuinely Hate Him”

As you recall, now free agent Colin Kaepernick refused to stand for the National Anthem. As a result, teams “genuinely hate him” and he is unlikely to be signed.

During the 2016 season he refused to stand during the playing of the National Anthem before games. He attributed this to taking a stand against police and because of the oppression of black people. Despite being paid millions of dollars to play a game, he did this for most of the season. Unfortunately, some of the sheep in the NFL decided to join him.

Further along in the season, Kaepernick decided to wear a Fidel Castro t-shirt before the 49ers game in Miami.

That’s right, he wore a shirt that says “Great Minds Think Alike” featuring Malcolm X and Fidel Castro. When the game was over, he defended Castro during an interview.

Now Kaepernick is a free agent. He has already stated that he plans to stand for the National Anthem. Looks like a case of too little too late. It appears that NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick is unlikely to be signed because teams “genuinely hate him.”

Free Agent Colin Kaepernick Not Likely to Be Signed

Per Mercury News:

Kaepernick has not been linked to any teams since entering free agency last week for the first time in his six-year career.

“He can still play at a high level,” an anonymous AFC general manager told Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman. “The problem is three things are happening with him.

“First, some teams genuinely believe that he can’t play. They think he’s shot. I’d put that number around 20 percent.

“Second, some teams fear the backlash from fans after getting him. They think there might be protests or (President) Trump will tweet about the team. I’d say that number is around 10 percent. Then there’s another 10 percent that has a mix of those feelings.

“Third, the rest genuinely hate him and can’t stand what he did [kneeling for the national anthem]. They want nothing to do with him. They won’t move on and think showing no interest is a form of punishment. I think some teams also want to use Kaepernick as a cautionary tale to stop other players in the future from doing what he did.”

It will be interesting to see if Kaepernick gets picked up. This could serve as an example to many that no matter how entitled athletes think they are, they cannot get away with everything.
