On Monday another 165 pages of emails were released, according to the AP. Nearly 3 dozen of them were emails she failed to submit and were sent through her private server. These were exchanged through her account with chief of staff Huma Abedin. Huma also has an email account on the Clinton home server.
These emails were separate from the 55,000 work related emails that were released. In these emails there is a discussion between Hillary Clinton and Huma Abedin and a second aide:
“I have just realized I have no idea how my papers are treated at State,” Clinton wrote to Abedin and a second aide. “Who manages both my personal and official files? … I think we need to get on this asap to be sure we know and design the system we want.”
In an audit that occurred last month, the State Department determined that the Clinton team ignored internal guidance that her private email setup ignored federal records-keeping standards and also made them extremely vulnerable with regards to sensitive material getting to hackers.
Clinton never used the government issued email at any point. She used her private email server all the way through leaving office in 2013. Before Clinton agreed to provide her emails she and her lawyers deleted tens of thousands of emails that she claims were about family vacations, Chelsea’s wedding plans, yoga information and notes with regards to condolences.
Included in the emails discovered on Monday were 50 new work related emails which she did not provide initially. In 2014 campaign spokesman Brian Fallon claimed that they provided all work-related emails that they still had in possession at the time of the request.
Dozens of the email sent through the Clinton private server were determined to contain classified information. There has an FBI investigation going on for months. Clinton also turned over her hard drive that contained the private email server and elected not to keep a copy of the emails that were turned over.
