Democrats are continuing with their push for a mass mail-in voting process in the upcoming election.
There has been continual pushback from the Republicans, and rightly so. However, this time pushback came from somewhere else...the Supreme Court.
That's right, the highest court in the land rejected a request from Texas Democrats that would have allowed Texas residents to vote by mail during in the election because of the coronavirus.
The denial is not the end of the ongoing battle over mail-in voting in Texas, but it remains a loss for Democrats who made the emergency ruling request while the original case is tied up at the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals.
Justice Sonia Sotomayor urged the lower court to consider the case “well in advance of the November election.” Voting by mail in Texas is generally limited to those 65 or older or those with a “sickness or physical condition” that prevents voting in person.
For months, Republican Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has fought expanding mail-in balloting during the pandemic, saying fear of contracting the virus is an insufficient reason. A federal judge in Texas sided with Democrats in May, but that decision is on hold pending appeal.
Shortly after the ruling, President Donald Trump, who has railed against mail-in voting, tweeted, "Big WIN in Texas on Mail-In Ballots!"
The thing that really bothers me the most of everything that's going on right now; the riots, the coronavirus, and the push for mail-in ballots for the election is the massive hypocrisy. Hypocrisy is something that I just cannot stand.
The push by the Democrats for mail-in voting is supposedly because of the coronavirus and not wanting people to be out in large groups because they fear transmission of the virus. At the same exact time, they refuse to condemn the MASSIVE riots going on in various cities across the country.
How is it that they don't want people waiting in line to vote, but there's nothing wrong with gathering in mass for protests and riots or lining up for hours to pay their respects to John Lewis in a packed church?
